Perth-born Michael Johns, now living in Los Angeles, has reached the top 11 on season 7 of American Idol. He was praised by infamous judge Simon Cowell as “like a white soul singer” when he auditioned, singing the Otis Redding hit “I’ve been loving you too long”.
