The Reading Wall is hanging in The Nook just inside the doors at the State Library. It’s there to celebrate the Love2Read Cafe and the National Year of Reading until 9 December.
You’re invited to share part of your favourite poem (or you can add it as a comment to this post.) Enjoy reading others peoples favourites…Jabberwocky seems to be a stand-out so far.
Several great events are coming soon to the Love2Read Cafe:
Listen to TAG Hungerford award winner Jacqui Wright discuss her book Red Dirt Talking with author and Vogel award winner, Julienne van Loon. Saturday 27 October: 3.30 – 4.30pm
Come along to the Big Book and Sheet Music Sale on Saturday 3 November from 10.30am – 4.00pm. Discover a great book bargain and take advantage of this one-off opportunity to buy surplus sheet music.

Perth’s Love2Read Café is open again by popular demand in the Perth Cultural Centre outside the State Library of Western Australia. From October 6 to December 9, relax into reading books, magazines or newspapers available to browse at the Cafe, or bring your own material including e-readers. Discover thousands of e-books that can be borrowed with State Library or public library cards. Families can play word games and create lego poetry while spending time together. Author talks and book signings will showcase the very best of WA writing, and you’ll have the chance to find a bargain at the Big Book and Music Sale on Saturday 3 November.
Whether you’re an office worker, family, student, State Library member, tourist, or just passing through the Perth Cultural Centre, drop in and enjoy a good read. For the complete program of events, go to http://www.slwa.wa.gov.au/whats_on/events, or print the attached flyer (best viewed as an A3 document).

To celebrate the official launch of the National Year of Reading on Tuesday 14 February, we have a 3D chalk art book out the front of the State Library, next to the black-and-white sculpture. It doesn’t look 3D until you look through a camera…very clever! Come and take a photo and shake the hand of Bunyip Bluegum who is stepping out of the book.
