The Sunday Times Big Book Club: April & May 2008

April 2008 Selection – Addition by Toni Jordan

In April, novelist Toni Jordan will be talking at libraries in Fremantle, Mandurah, Rockingham, Belmont, Clarkson and Broome, and all events are free. She will be discussing her debut work, Addition, which has foreign rights already sold in nine countries. Come along and hear about her failed careers as an aluminium siding saleswoman, and her journey to becoming a novelist.

Why not borrow a copy of the book from your local library? Addition is the story of Grace Vandenburg. She’s damaged and screwy, but not a victim: she’s quick-witted, flirtatious and headstrong. It’s quirky, sassy, totally unique and captivating…don’t miss the opportunity of meeting and hearing Toni Jordan.

May 2008 Selection – Boycott by Lisa Forrest

‘It’s entirely unexpected: the personal story of a young Australian caught up in one of the greatest political upheavals in the history of sport. It’s Cold War meets a kid from Cromer and she wins.’ – David Marr

Lisa Forrest was just fourteen when she burst onto the international swimming scene in 1978. She won the hearts of the Australian public with a 10,000 watt smile and a ton of personality, and participated in numerous international competitions. At 16, Lisa Forrest captained Australia’s swimming team at the 1980 Moscow Olympics. Lisa will be touring in WA in May 2008 – see for more details.
