National Archives : World War I records online

Unusually, the National Archives made the news recently. After three years’ work, it has brought the World War 1 service records online. There are 376 000 of them. You can visit their site and search for records of people who served.

  1. I am searching for the records of my grandfather, Elma Johnson. Enlisted into the National Guard, 10 Company Oregon Coast Artillery on July 3, 1917 at Tillamook, Oregon. Honorably Discharged 05 April 1919 He was said to have been 22 years old at the time of enlistment, blue eyes, sandy hair, medium complexion,5′ 10”. These details I took off the original enlistment and discharge papers. Please be aware,I am a grandson by his third child and the family genealogist. Thank You

  2. Hey STEVE!! Long time, no hear? I’m a previous co-worker of yours at NSC. Hope all is well. It’s been at least 6 years. Still working there.
