Are you curious about the unusual? Are you into Middle-Eastern music? Do you pluck for a living (strings, that is!)? If you have answered yes to at least one of these questions, tune into RTRFM’s Plucked Strings program on Sunday 6 January 2008 at 8.00pm to hear the State Library of WA’s Peter Edwards talk about one of his passions – the oud. The oud is a fretless stringed instrument similar to a lute and used primarily in Middle Eastern music, and Pete will wax lyrically about the instrument, its history and repertoire and what the oud does for him. Check out the library’s Middle Eastern music gateway for more information.
